Labor Day often is used as the signal that the summer has come to an end, and it is often looked upon as a great vacation weekend because almost everyone gets a day off from work on Monday. But most people forget that the holiday is a celebration of work in general, and all the jobs that people have occupied in the past. It is a general 'Thanks for all the hard work' celebration. Rosie the Riveter is a character that is often tied to women and their role in the work force, especially back during WW II. Rosie symbolized woman as being a strong and intricate part of keeping the American workforce up and running during a time of war when men were away fighting.
